FAQ

How buying, selling, grading, shipping, and payouts work on WAXED. For anything else, support answers.

Buying

How are records graded?

Every listing is graded on the Goldmine Grading standard — Mint, Near Mint, VG+, VG, Good+, Good, Fair, Poor — with media and sleeve graded separately. Grades are set by the seller; every completed order can be reviewed, and those reviews build the seller's public rating.

What do I pay?

The listed price, the seller's shipping rate, and sales tax where it applies. There is no buyer fee.

What payment methods work?

Major cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay. Payment runs through Stripe.

How does shipping work?

Stores and sellers ship their own orders. Rates are set by the seller — a flat rate by region, or carrier-calculated at checkout. Some offer free shipping above a threshold they choose. Tracking posts to your order page as the carrier scans it.

Do sellers ship internationally?

Seller's choice, set per region. If a listing shows a rate to your country, they ship there. Import duties and customs fees, where they apply, are yours — they're charged by your country, not by WAXED or the seller.

Can I cancel an order?

There's no cancel button — message the seller from the order page. Cancellation is at the seller's discretion.

What happens if a record arrives not as described?

Work it out with the seller directly — all communication happens on the order page. WAXED can't mediate condition or shipment disputes; we never handle the record and don't control how it ships. If you and the seller can't reach a resolution, the dispute can be escalated to the payment provider associated with the order. Support we can offer after 60 days is likely to be very limited.

Who am I buying from?

Stores and individual sellers with public storefronts. Each seller carries a rating out of five, built only from post-purchase reviews.

Can I buy from multiple sellers in one checkout?

Yes — one checkout covers everything in your cart. Shipping is charged per seller at each seller's stated rate, since each ships their own orders, and each seller's records arrive as a separate order.

Selling

Who can sell on WAXED?

Collectors and businesses both — same access, same tools. Onboarding sets up your storefront, payouts, and inventory in one pass. Access opens in waves; the waitlist goes first.

What does it cost to sell?

No listing fees, no monthly fee. WAXED takes a flat 8% of the item price only — no WAXED fee is ever applied to shipping. Card processing (2.9% + 30¢) is charged by the payment processor, is not part of WAXED's 8%, and is netted from the same payout.

How do payouts work?

Payouts run through Stripe. You connect a bank account during onboarding, proceeds from each sale accumulate to your balance, and you can pay out any amount over $10.

How do I list a record?

Search the catalog of over 19 million releases, match your copy to the correct pressing, and set your grade and price. You can add seller notes and photos of your actual copy for additional detail. If a pressing isn't in the catalog, you can submit it.

How do I know what to price it at?

Most releases carry pricing data built from real sold prices. Use it as a reference point — the price you set is ultimately your choice.

Can I import my Discogs inventory?

Yes. Connect your Discogs account from the Integrations page in Settings, or from the Integrations button in Library. One click imports your entire Discogs listings and collection — fully detailed, in seconds. CSV import works too.

Does WAXED work with my existing store systems?

Square, Discogs, and CSV all sync in and out — and you can fulfill your Square and Discogs orders directly within WAXED. Sell in the shop, sell online, keep one inventory.

What can't be sold?

Counterfeits and unofficial pressings passed off as official. Bootlegs must be listed as what they are. Listings that misrepresent get pulled, and listing them is subject to suspension or a ban from the platform.

Do in-store sales get charged the 8%?

No. The 8% applies only when something sells online through WAXED. Sales rung up in your shop are yours — no WAXED fee.

Do I handle taxes?

WAXED collects and remits sales tax on orders where marketplace facilitator laws apply. Income reporting is yours; sellers who cross IRS thresholds get the required tax forms through Stripe.

Platform

What is WAXED?

A marketplace and operating system for vinyl record sellers and collectors. Buy from stores and sellers worldwide, sell from your collection, and manage inventory with tools built for how records actually move.

What formats?

Vinyl, CDs, and cassettes.

What are Crates?

Shoppable, curated selections — anything from a bulk pick of records to entire crates to whole collections, listed as one set and browsed as one set on your storefront and the marketplace.

What is Bulk Listing?

List many records in one pass instead of one at a time. Match, grade, and price as you go, then publish the whole batch at once.

What other tools come built in?

Customer email broadcast for reaching your buyers directly, and analytics covering your inventory, orders, and storefront. All free, for every seller.

What is Rabbit Hole?

Discovery by sound. Start from a single record and get fed sonically similar ones — follow it as deep as it goes.

I'm an artist or label. Can I claim my page?

Yes. Artist and label pages can be claimed and verified — through Instagram, an email on your domain, or documentation. Once approved you manage the page and what it shows, and can post your own listings or collection to offer or showcase there.

Can I track my collection without selling?

Yes. The collection manager stands on its own — catalog what you own, watch its value move, and see where each record sits on our rarity scale. List something only if you ever feel like it.
